Pediatric Associates is offering a $3000 Sign-On Bonus for New Medical Assistant applicants selected for an opportunity.
This is a Medical Assistant Floater position for the North - Boynton East, Boynton West, Wellington, West Palm Beach. They will primarily be floating within these offices but may also be required to cover locations outside of the listed offices.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. Supports clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating pediatric patient population. The Laboratory Medical Assistant Floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support in either the MA role or dedicated Lab station.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs laboratory testing procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology and Spirometry.
- Reports laboratory results to a healthcare clinician. Alerts the healthcare clinician of any critical or out-of-range values and documents critical reports.
- Performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
- Prepares specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.
- Performs and documents daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.
- Perform and document the patient’s intake vitals including but are limited to height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate; repeat and notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.
- Interview patient based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs with accurate documentation and update medical records to include chief complaint, current medications with drug name, dosing, route, medication and food allergies with reaction and severity, vaccine, medical, surgical, family, social histories, any barriers to care and home status.
- Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review, and treatment follow-up as needed.
- Prepares the patient for clinician examination, ensuring clinician orders are performed and accurately documented.
- Performs with clinician supervision and assists clinicians in necessary age-appropriate vision, hearing screenings, electrocardiograms with repeat as needed, suture removal, ear lavages, urine catheterization, ear piercing, wound care, specialty procedures, and emergency response with proper clinician supervision.
- Perform and document vaccine and medication reconciliation with patient and state registry; provide written vaccine information statements and education of patients/parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.
- Perform proper patient identifiers, buddy process validation as per policies, and perform proper vaccine and medication administration to include intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections with post-observation.
- Completes patient follow-up and tasks assigned to meet patient needs including but not limited to answering phones, handling correspondence, prescription refill requests, providing the clinician with necessary information as needed, obtaining medication preauthorization, assisting with patient referrals, patient form completion to include DME, therapy, school clearance, sports and medication forms, arrange home, hospital care, procedures and follow up appointments, etc.
- Able to travel, float, and adapt to a flexible location schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- MA Diploma / Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years MA experience will commensurate Diploma / Certification requirement.
- Active BLS certification required.
- Active & valid drivers license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices
- Phlebotomy skills
- Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
- Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly.
